Wendell has a history spanning over 100 years.  The Centennial committee is made up of all the organizations  of Wendell.  Co-chairs are 1) Marilyn Neal representing the Gem Team, Lions Club, Women's Auxillary 2) Ilene Rounsefell representing the Gooding County Historical Society, Wendell City Council, Gem Team 3) Jan Gooding representing the Chamber of Commerce, Gem Team.  The committee consists of members from the Rebekka's, Senior Center, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)

Wendell began as a planned community that was created by W.S. Kuhn, who owned the Twin Falls North Side Land & Water Co.  This town was named for his son Wendel.  Jerome was named for another one of his sons.
